Swimming - in the warm waters of the Indian ocean or relax in the fresh water pool watching ships pass  by in the distant  busy sea lane in front of the beach villas.

Relax - simply relax on sun beds reading a book sipping fresh fruit juice or freshly plucked king coconut.

  • Diving -equipment can be hired locally
  • Fishing - boats and fishing gear can be hired for trolling. Sri Lanka is an angler’s paradise. Deep sea fishing can be great fun. More so when fishing for pleasure and relaxation for blue and black marline, white or striped tuna, Spanish mackerel, barracuda and others.

  • Surfing - Ideal surfing in a bay, a few minutes walk from South point villas. Boards can be hired locally.
  • Paddle boats - Paddle boats and local canoes available at Koggala lake.
  • Dolphins - Dolphins have been sighted in the sea opposite South Point Villa and Abbey. Dolphins have been known to accompany boats on several occasions. Enthusiasts can hire a boat from local fishermen for dolphin watching expeditions.
  • Visit a turtle hatchery - Turtle eggs are protected by purchasing them from fishermen and given to a hatchery. Once eggs hatch, the baby turtles are released back to sea. If you are lucky, you too will have the opportunity to release them. The first batch of baby turtles were released to sea in April 2006 with our guests standing by to protect them from sea gulls who consider baby turtles a rare delicacy.

  • Yoga - A yoga instructor can be arranged -( prior notice is required). Bookings can be made according to availability.
  • Masseurs - Herbal / Ayuruvedic masseurs can be arranged.

     

    Sight seeing

    1. The Dutch fort in Galle -A world heritage site dating back to the 16th century with ramparts, churches, mosques, temples and many restaurants are just 20 minutes away.

    2. Hadunagoda tea factory - The only tea estate that makes White Tea, after the recipe of ancient Chinese Emperors. It is also the only tea estate so close to the Indian Ocean, is 20 minutes from South Point. Visitors are conducted through a full tour of harvesting and preparation of tea, rubber, cinnamon, and other spices found in Sri Lanka. During the conducted tour visitors are invited to tea and cakes at the plantation bungalow.

    Koggala lake - is few minutes from South Point -home to indigenous fauna and flora of Sri Lanka. Koggala lake is a bird watchers delight. Eagle island has over 60 nesting eagles. On an island in Kogala lake cinnamon peeling and processing is demonstrated for visitors.

    Wildlife parks
    4-5 hours to Yala national wildlife park. A variety of wildlife can be seen here. On a lucky day leopard and bear can be spotted.
    4-5 hours to Udawalawe wildlife park excellent for viewing elephants.
    3-31/2hours to Sinharaja rain forest.

    Unawatuna beach - known to be among the world's best beaches is a few minutes  away from South Point .

    Important - 30 minutes  to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital. Qualified specialists can be    channelled here. A doctor is available for house calls in case of an emergency.
